Our Mission
The LACUNY AI Roundtable serves as a collaborative forum for library professionals across the City University of New York system to explore, evaluate, and integrate artificial intelligence technologies in support of our libraries' educational mission and service to our diverse academic community.
Our Purpose
We are committed to:
- Advancing Library Services: Investigating and implementing AI applications that enhance research support, information literacy instruction, collection development, and patron services across CUNY libraries
- Promoting Ethical Practice: Ensuring that AI adoption in library operations upholds principles of intellectual freedom, patron privacy, information equity, and responsible technology use
- Building Professional Capacity: Fostering continuous learning and knowledge-sharing among library associates through workshops, discussions, and collaborative projects focused on emerging AI tools and methodologies
- Supporting Student Success: Leveraging AI innovations to improve accessibility, expand research capabilities, and provide equitable access to information resources for CUNY's diverse student population
- Informing Strategic Planning: Providing evidence-based recommendations to library leadership regarding AI integration, resource allocation, and policy development that align with CUNY's educational values
Our Commitment
As stewards of information and champions of lifelong learning, we embrace the transformative potential of artificial intelligence while maintaining our core commitment to human-centered librarianship, critical thinking, and the democratization of knowledge across all CUNY campuses.
